Rewards and Motivation
Most us think we work for the pay cheque. But benefits, vacation, and salary are employee retainers not motivators.
Improve employee morale with:
- Company picnics
- Day off with pay (e.g. birthday off)
- Monthly draws for preferred parking spots
- Dinner for two vouchers
- Informal and timely recognition of outstanding efforts
To increase employee motivation, consider the following:
- The job should be challenging
- The employee should know why all aspects of the job are important
- The job should have measurable results
- The employee should have some autonomy in the job
- Compensation should equal output
Employers need to provide a positive, supportive, involved work environment, where managers are motivators.
Most people want to do well. It's your role as employer to help them feel good about it. Your entire organization will benefit!
